Victor Wembanyama has more blocks as a rookie than a majority of NBA players ever

Through 76 games, San Antonio Spurs rookie center Victor Wembanyama has recorded 235 blocks this season, more than 86.6% of NBA player's career total blocks.

Fans have noticed Wembanyama’s block party throughout the season; however, Wemby’s stand-out performance against the No. 1 seed in the West, the Denver Nuggets, took the league by storm. Wembanyama recorded nine blocks Tuesday night in Denver, with multiple blocks on Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, who, despite those blocks, scored 42 points.

Not only did Wembanyama almost record double-digit blocks, but he scored 23 points, captured 15 rebounds, and dished out eight assists, flirting with a quadruple-double only being one block and two assists away.

The Spurs center leads the Rookie of the Year race and was awarded the Kia NBA Rookie of the Month in the West. In March, he averaged 23.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game. This is the third straight month Wembanyama has earned this award, after being recognized in January and February.

While the Spurs hold last place in the West, Wembanyama has had a memorable, successful season.
