The Milwaukee Bucks (50-29) pulled off one of the wildest comebacks of the season, storming back from a 24-point fourth-quarter deficit to stun the Minnesota Timberwolves (46-33) 110-103 on Tuesday, April 8, at Fiserv Forum.
Giannis Antetokounmpo notched his third straight triple-double, finishing with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists to lead the charge. Milwaukee outscored Minnesota 39-8 over the final 10 minutes and erased a 95-71 deficit with a game-changing 23-0 run. AJ Green’s 3-pointer tied the game at 97 with 3:36 left, and the Bucks never looked back.
Back from a 25-game suspension, Bobby Portis added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Porter Jr. scored 21, including a go-ahead dunk after a steal that gave the Bucks the lead for good with under three minutes to play.
A heated moment in the fourth saw Porter and Rudy Gobert receive offsetting technical fouls following a brief skirmish. During the exchange, Gary Trent Jr. picked up another tech for jawing at Gobert. Anthony Edwards made a free throw to put the Timberwolves back up briefly, but the Bucks responded with an 8-0 burst to close it out.
Edwards led Minnesota with 25 points. Donte DiVincenzo scored 24, and Naz Reid added 17. The Timberwolves, who entered the night in a four-way tie for fifth in the West, missed a chance to climb the standings.
Antetokounmpo continued his hot stretch after missing one game with a shoulder issue. Over his last three games, he’s averaging a near triple-double with dominant numbers, including a 35-point, 20-assist, 17-rebound performance against Philadelphia and a 36-point triple-double in an OT win at Miami.
Milwaukee’s comeback marked their biggest fourth-quarter rally since the NBA began tracking play-by-play data in 1996-97. They had lost their last 276 games when trailing by 20+ in the fourth quarter — until now.
Up next, the Timberwolves visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, while the Bucks stay home to take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
