Mahomes celebrates a touchdown with Travis Kelce

    Overview

The Kansas City Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl with a chance to repeat after defeating the Ravens.

Kansas City is playing in the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five years.

    Chiefs' Top Performers

Patrick Mahomes played a great game Sunday, controlling the tempo and bringing his team to victory. He was 30/39 with 241 yards and a touchdown. Mahomes also hit a huge throw to ice the game on a 3rd down and long just before the two-minute warning. He also added 18 rushing yards to his total.

Travis Kelce showed why he is one of the best tight ends in football, dominating the Ravens secondary. He went for 116 yards and 11 receptions and the lone receiving touchdown.

The Chiefs defense also came up big numerous times close to the end zone. L’Jarius Sneed made a huge play punching the ball out on the one yard line, which Kansas City recovered for a touchback. Shortly after, the Ravens drove down the field again, before Lamar Jackson threw an interception in the end zone giving Kansas City the ball on the 20.

    Baltimore Ravens' Woes

Baltimore on the other hand played a mistake filled game and gave away many golden opportunities.

Lamar Jackson struggled on Sunday, fumbling the ball once and throwing an interception once. He did throw for 272 yards and a touchdown, but this was not enough.

The Baltimore receivers have a lot to look back on going into next season. Outside of Zay Flowers, nobody was able to produce any big plays and this caused the Ravens offense to continuously stall.

Despite letting up lots of yards, the Ravens defense was able to hold the Kansas City offense to just 17 points.

The Ravens as a whole showed a lack of discipline, having multiple huge penalties throughout the game. They tallied eight penalties for 95 yards, but the ones that stand out was Kyle Van Noy’s 15 yard personal foul against Travis Kelce, and Zay Flowers’ taunting penalty, pushing the Ravens 15 yards back leading to his fumble.

    Looking Ahead

Kansas City showed why they have been to the Super Bowl after Super Bowl, and that even with a shaky start they are still one of the best teams in the league. Mahomes will be looking for his third ring, and is still only 28 years old.

Kansas City will now be closely watching the Detroit vs San Francisco game, as they await the winner. The 49ers are looking for a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl, while the Lions are looking to be in their first ever Super Bowl.
