After his freshman season, USC Trojans guard Bronny James declared for the NBA draft and entered the transfer portal if he opts to stay in college.
While James' future is uncertain, it is clear that USC will no longer be a part of it. The 6’4” 210-pound Ohio native came off the bench during his freshman season at USC, recording 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes a game, helping the Trojans to a 15-18 record. While USC finished their season under .500, James showed he could make head plays and compete with players ranging from freshman to graduate students.
A significant setback for James during his time at USC came in July at a workout for the Trojans. Bronny was sidelined from USC for nearly five months after suffering cardiac arrest and being diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. This played a crucial role in Bronny’s performance during his freshman season. The once four-star recruit out of high school could not compete for the first month of USC’s season, playing his first collegiate game on December 10, 2023, in an overtime loss to Long Beach State.
If Bronny is selected to play in the NBA, he will join his father, the 4x NBA champion, Lebron James.
