Detroit Pistons guard Evan Fournier Drives to the hoop against the Miami Heat

The league said on Monday that guard Evan Fournier of the Detroit Pistons, who kicked a ball into the stands after Sunday's loss to the Miami Heat, was fined $25,000.

The play was called after Heat center Bam Adebayo defeated the Pistons 104-101 with a game-winning three-pointer. Frustrated, Fournier picked up the ball after the shot went in and punted it into the stands.

Fournier scored his highest point total since joining the Pistons in February, with 18 points in the defeat. The 11-year veteran was sent to Detroit from the New York Knicks in exchange for Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic.

Fournier's role has increased significantly since joining the Pistons compared to his time in New York. Before being traded, he appeared in just three games for the Knicks. Currently, he averages 16.9 minutes and scores 7.8 points per game. Just a few seasons ago, Fournier averaged 19.7 points per game. He hopes to have a successful second act in his career and could be a valuable veteran asset for the Pistons as they rebuild for next season.
