Knicks fined $25K for violating injury reporting rules

The NBA announced today that the New York Knicks have been fined $25,000 for violating the NBA’s injury reporting rules.

The Knicks failed to accurately report the injury status of center Mitchell Robinson before their matchup with the Toronto Raptors on March 27. Mitchell was listed as “Out” on the Knicks injury report but ended up playing in the game, where he recorded eight points and two rebounds in 12 minutes on the court. The Knicks won the contest 145-101, and while Mitchell did not have an enormous impact on the game, they still violated league policy.

This fine comes just three days after the NBA fined the Philadelphia 76ers $100,000 for violating the same policy, listing start center Joel Embiid as “Out” on April 2, when Embiid did end up playing against Oklahoma City Thunder, and was a treasured part of the Sixers 109-105 victory, including four clutch free throws to seal the game.
