Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis told the media that his “Plan right now” is to be active for Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.
Porzingis has been sidelined with a calf injury since Game 4 of the Celtics ' opening-round playoff series against the Miami Heat, where they swept Miami 4-0 to advance to the second round. That injury came on April 29, and since then, Porzingis has had over a month to recover and prepare for a late postseason comeback. The NBA Finals is about as late of a comeback as any player could hope for. While Celtics head coach Joe Mazzula has not stated whether Porzingis will be available for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, June 6, the seven-foot center seems confident in his rehab abilities.

It is unclear whether we will see Porzingis join Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for the final seven-game series of the 2024 NBA season. This would add height to their starting roster and force Minnesota big men Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert to pick and choose between Porzingis and Celtics center Al Horford.
