Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, as the Cleveland Cavaliers held off a late Miami Heat surge to win 121-112 on Wednesday night and take a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.
Cleveland built a 19-point lead late in the third quarter before Miami stormed back to cut it to 105-103 with just over three minutes remaining.
But Mitchell responded with a step-back floater, then buried a momentum-shifting 3-pointer following a Jarrett Allen steal to seal the win.
Mitchell added six rebounds and six assists in his 27th career playoff game with at least 30 points. Evan Mobley added 20 points, and Darius Garland had 19 as the Cavaliers hit 22 threes, including an NBA playoff-record 11 in the second quarter.
Tyler Herro led Miami with 33 points, while Davion Mitchell scored 18.
The Heat host Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.
