The shot capped a chaotic finish in which the Trail Blazers erased a nine-point deficit in the final two minutes, only to see their comeback undone by Bane’s heroics as time expired.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 28 points and nine rebounds, while Bane added 22 points and seven assists — including the game-winner, his lone made 3-pointer of the night. Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. each contributed 19 points and nine rebounds for Orlando, which improved to 3–0 on its current homestand despite playing its third game in four nights without guard Jalen Suggs (knee).
Shaedon Sharpe poured in 31 points to pace Portland, and Deni Avdija added 27, hitting a pair of clutch 3-pointers during an 11–0 Blazers run that briefly gave them life late in the fourth quarter.
Jerami Grant’s three-point play off an inbounds pass from Toumani Camara put Portland ahead 112–110 with 10.6 seconds left. After missing two earlier free throws, Banchero tied the game with a layup but couldn’t convert the ensuing foul shot, leaving the score knotted at 112.
On the next possession, Banchero stole Portland’s inbounds pass with 1.9 seconds remaining, setting up Bane’s dramatic, step-back game-winner from deep over Sharpe.
Neither team led by double digits until the final seconds of the third quarter, when rookie Jett Howard hit a 3-pointer to put Orlando up 87–75. The Blazers rallied late but never recovered from Bane’s buzzer-beating dagger.
