The Atlanta Hawks (31-34) defeated the Philadelphia 76ers (22-42) 132-123 on Monday, March 10, without Trae Young.
Dyson Daniels stepped up in Young’s absence and paced Atlanta’s six double figure scorers with 19 points. Daniels tacked on nine assists and six rebounds, nearly tallying a double-double in the Hawks' nine-point win.
Zaccharie Risacher (22), Terance Mann (19), Georges Niang (18), Oneyeka Okongwu (15) and Mouhamed Gueye (14) joined Daniels in double digit scoring, with Mann and Niang stepping up big off of the bench.
Atlanta shot 54.1% from the field and 40.5% from long distance, with Okongwu playing a major role in the Hawks’ three-point shooting. He buried all three of his triples from beyond the arc.
The Hawks outrebounded Philly 55-43 and had more assists, 34-25, than the Sixers, leading in nearly every statistical category.
The Sixers were without Joel Embiid (out for season), Tyrese Maxey and Paul George in their defeat, and shooting guard Gientin Grimes stepped up in their absence. Grimes tallied a game-high 35 points, knocking down five triples, and grabbing seven rebounds while dishing out five assists.
Grimes was the only starter to record 12+ points, as Lonnie Walker IV and Jared Butler each recorded 11 points.
Ricky Council IV (19) and Jeff Dowtin (17) stepped up big off the bench for Philly, joining Grimes as the Sixers leading scorers.
Philadelphia has now lost four of its last five games, and faces the Indiana Pacers on Friday, March 14, where they are looking for a win. Atlanta is the polar opposite of the Sixers, stealing a victory in four of its last five contests, and are set to face the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, March 12.
