Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Mikal Bridges chipped in 22 for the Knicks, who have now won five straight — all at home — while averaging an eye-popping 130.2 points per game during the streak. New York improved to 7-0 at MSG, its best home start since the 2012-13 season, when the team opened 10-0 en route to its last Atlantic Division title.
OG Anunoby scored 16 points and Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to add 13, helping fuel another explosive offensive night. The Knicks have now scored at least 77 points in a half in three consecutive games.
Jaren Jackson Jr. and Santi Aldama paced Memphis with 19 points apiece, while Ja Morant finished with 16 points and 10 assists but struggled from the field, shooting just 4-for-14. The Grizzlies have dropped six of their last seven games.
The Knicks closed the first quarter on a 12-0 run, breaking a 30-30 tie to take a 42-30 lead after Brunson’s late basket. They opened the second with seven more unanswered points, extending the margin to 49-30 on Deuce McBride’s 3-pointer. Clarkson scored 10 in the quarter as New York ran its lead to 77-54 by halftime.
Memphis rallied to cut a 28-point deficit to 10 in the fourth quarter, but Brunson steadied the Knicks down the stretch to seal the win.
New York rested starting center Mitchell Robinson on the first night of a back-to-back.
The Knicks host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, while the Grizzlies take the trip to Boston to take on the Celtics the same night.
