The Utah Jazz stormed back with a massive fourth-quarter surge, riding Lauri Markkanen’s 30 points and Keyonte George’s 29 to a 123–110 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night.
Utah erupted for a 42–20 fourth quarter, flipping a game in which it trailed by 15 in the first half. Markkanen and George were nearly unstoppable late, combining for 18 points in the final period as the Jazz shot 63.6% (14-for-22) to take control.
Rookie Kyle Filipowski added 15 points, and Walter Clayton Jr. scored 13 off the bench, helping Utah secure its second straight victory.
The Nets, who rested leading scorer Michael Porter Jr. on the second night of a back-to-back, were led by Noah Clowney’s 29 points and Ziaire Williams’ 23 off the bench. Brooklyn saw its two-game winning streak snapped.
With the game tied 98–98 at the 6:29 mark, George drilled back-to-back threes. Williams responded with a triple of his own, but Utah seized momentum from there. A turnover by Tyrese Martin gave the Jazz another chance, and Bryce Sensabaugh drew a foul on a three-point attempt, sinking two free throws to push the lead to 106–101.
Filipowski buried a corner three on the next possession, and after a Clowney layup, Markkanen delivered a dagger three with 3:39 remaining to make it 112–103. From there, Utah coasted to the finish.
Porter, averaging 25.3 points per game, was coming off a 33-point, 10-rebound night in Wednesday’s win over Chicago.
