Desmond Bane delivered another standout performance, matching his season high with 37 points to lead the Orlando Magic past the Miami Heat 117–108 on Tuesday night, sending Orlando into the NBA Cup semifinals.
Jalen Suggs added 20 points and Paolo Banchero contributed 18 points and seven rebounds as the Magic secured a date with New York on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Miami, which has now dropped three games in Orlando this season, was paced by Norman Powell’s 21 points. Tyler Herro scored 20, while Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins each finished with 19. The Heat opened the night scorching hot, knocking down their first six shots to race out to a 15–0 lead less than three minutes in. But their offense stalled from deep, finishing just 8 of 33 from beyond the arc. Herro went 0-for-6 from three, including an open look in the final minute that could have trimmed the deficit to four.
Bane took over the fourth quarter, drilling two threes and converting a three-point play in the opening minutes to push Orlando’s six-point lead to 13. Miami never cut the gap to single digits again until the closing seconds. Orlando also got the win without forward Franz Wagner, who missed his first game of the season with a high ankle sprain expected to sideline him for several weeks.
The Magic shot 46.9% from three on the night, hitting 15 of 32 attempts, with Bane knocking down six of his nine.
