Brooklyn snapped a four-game losing streak and claimed their first victory since a 112-103 win over Indiana in the opening week of November, which had ended a seven-game skid to start the season. Both of the Nets’ wins have come on the road, where they are 2-5.
Nic Claxton contributed 17 points, Ziaire Williams added 13, Noah Clowney finished with 12, and Terance Mann scored 10 for Brooklyn.
Kyshawn George led the Wizards with 29 points, while CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton added 17 and 14, respectively. Washington shot 35% from three (12-for-34) and 44% overall (37-for-84), dropping to 0-6 at home and 1-12 overall. Their last win came Oct. 24 at Dallas (117-107).
The Nets overcame 11 first-half turnovers and relied on a 35-25 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take a 63-53 lead at halftime. Washington rallied in the third, outscoring Brooklyn 31-22 to pull within 85-84.
Brooklyn regained control when Williams hit a pair of free throws to push the lead to three, followed by Martin’s pair of field goals surrounding a 3-pointer to stretch the advantage to 94-84 heading into the fourth. The Nets opened the final period on a 14-4 run and led by 20 points at 108-88 with under eight minutes remaining, cruising to the win.
