The Houston Rockets (51-28) took down the Golden State Warriors (44-35) 106-96 on Sunday, April 6, powered by Alperen Sengun’s double-double and a strong defensive showing that held Stephen Curry to a season-low scoring performance.

Sengun finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Dillon Brooks led all Rockets scorers with 24 points. Jalen Green chipped in 21, and Jabari Smith Jr., returning from a right ankle sprain, added 16 off the bench as Houston remained in second place in the Western Conference with just three games remaining.

The Rockets snapped a seven-game losing streak at Chase Center — their first road win over the Warriors since February 2020.

Curry was limited to just three points on 1-for-10 shooting, including 1-of-8 from deep, his lowest total this season in a game where he wasn’t injured. Though he struggled to score, Curry did hand out seven of his eight assists in the first half and passed Reggie Miller for 24th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Buddy Hield (20 points) and Brandin Podziemski (19 points) were the only bright spots offensively for Golden State, which saw its five-game win streak snapped and lost for just the second time in 12 home games.

A pivotal moment came early in the third quarter, when Draymond Green was assessed a Flagrant 1 foul for a hard drive that caught Sengun in the head. It was Green’s fifth personal foul and shifted momentum further in Houston’s favor.

The Rockets turned up the defense, holding the Warriors to just 16 points in the fourth quarter and keeping Curry scoreless in the second half.

The Rockets continue their California road trip against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, April 9. The Warriors visit the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, April 8, before returning home for a back-to-back against the San Antonio Spurs.
