The San Antonio Spurs (25-55) stunned the Golden State Warriors (44-36) 114-111 on Wednesday, April 9, as Harrison Barnes hit a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer after a crucial foul moments earlier.
Barnes, who fouled Draymond Green with 3.1 seconds left to tie the game at 111, redeemed himself by draining a shot over Jimmy Butler as time expired. Keldon Johnson contributed 21 points, including a key go-ahead layup with 11 seconds remaining, after tying the game with 32 seconds left.
Butler scored 28 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter, and made 16 of 17 free throws. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 30 points, five 3-pointers, and eight rebounds, but Golden State’s loss could impact their chances of securing a top-six playoff seed.
Green added 13 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, but the Warriors dropped a crucial home game for the second consecutive time. Buddy Hield came off the bench to score 12 points for Golden State, which had shot 29 3-pointers in the first half alone.
Barnes finished with 20 points in the win, helping the Spurs snap a three-game losing streak and earn their second win in 10 games.
Golden State recorded 29 assists on 36 baskets and saw Curry achieve his NBA-record sixth season with 300 or more 3-pointers. San Antonio will visit Phoenix on Friday, while Golden State travels to Portland before hosting the Clippers in their regular-season finale on Sunday.
