The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly adding guard Ayo Dosunmu from the Chicago Bulls in a trade that sends Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller, and four future second-round picks to Chicago, bolstering Minnesota’s backcourt as the team pushes toward the playoffs. The Timberwolves, currently 32-20 and in fifth place in the Western Conference, hope Dosunmu can contribute alongside Anthony Edwards and complement their depth chart, which already includes Donte DiVincenzo, Jaylen Clark, and Bones Hyland.

Dosunmu has steadily improved his scoring each season and is averaging 15 points, three rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this year in a reserve role for the Bulls. He will enter free agency this summer with an opportunity to establish himself in Minnesota’s rotation. The move also opens minutes with veteran guard Mike Conley Jr. reportedly headed to Charlotte in a separate trade, and it clears space previously occupied by Dillingham, the No. 8 overall pick in 2024.

Chicago, meanwhile, has been active leading up to the deadline, moving Kevin Huerter, Coby White, Mike Conley Jr., and Nikola Vučević in various deals, losing four of its top seven scorers in the process. Dillingham, who has struggled to develop into a true point guard for the Bulls, is averaging 3.5 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 9.3 minutes over 35 games this season. Miller, who also moves to Chicago in the deal, averages 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds and holds a player option for next season. The trade reflects both teams’ efforts to reshape their rosters ahead of the playoff push and the trade deadline.
