Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 29 points and Jalen Johnson added 27 as the Atlanta Hawks extended the NBA’s longest active winning streak to seven games with a 124–112 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.
Atlanta led for most of the night but had to fend off a late push from Dallas before pulling away in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks tied the game at 97 when Khris Middleton knocked down a step-back jumper with just over nine minutes remaining. The Hawks responded with a decisive run, regaining control and never looking back.
Alexander-Walker sealed the win late, drilling back-to-back 3-pointers in the closing minutes to push the lead into double digits.
Dyson Daniels contributed 14 points and 10 assists while also taking on the defensive assignment of Dallas rookie Cooper Flagg. Daniels helped limit Flagg to 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Onyeka Okongwu added 18 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for Atlanta.
Klay Thompson paced the Mavericks with 21 points.
Atlanta entered the night 2½ games behind sixth-place Orlando for the final guaranteed playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks sit ninth but are hoping a strong finish can help them avoid a fifth straight appearance in the play-in tournament.
The seven-game surge matches Atlanta’s longest winning streak since the 2021–22 season. Six of the victories during the run have come at home, bringing the Hawks back to .500 in their home arena at 16–16 for the first time since late November.
Dallas, meanwhile, continues to struggle as it leans into a rebuild centered on the 19-year-old Flagg. The Mavericks have now lost eight straight and 18 of their last 20 games, drawing chants of “Who are you? Who are you?” from the Atlanta crowd during the game.
