Dyson Daniels recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Atlanta Hawks pulled away with a dominant fourth quarter to defeat the Denver Nuggets 110–87 on Friday night in their first game since trading Trae Young.

Jalen Johnson led Atlanta with 29 points, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 22. The Hawks outscored Denver 36–12 in the final 12 minutes to turn a tight contest into a runaway victory.
Both teams were shorthanded. Denver remained without Nikola Jokic (hyperextended left knee) and Jonas Valanciunas (calf), and also sat Jamal Murray and Spencer Jones due to ankle injuries. Murray, who dished a career-high 17 assists in Wednesday’s win at Boston, has now missed two of the Nuggets’ last four games.
Unable to summon the late-game heroics that fueled road wins at Philadelphia and Boston to close a seven-game trip, Denver was led by Peyton Watson’s 25 points. Aaron Gordon scored 14 off the bench in his third game back after missing 19 games with a hamstring injury.
Atlanta also dealt with absences, as Kristaps Porzingis (Achilles tendon) did not dress, and newly acquired CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert have yet to join the team following the deal that sent Young to Washington.
Before tipoff, Hawks coach Quin Snyder addressed Young’s departure, saying, “We appreciate what he gave and did for our group, for the team, for the community. Wish him and his family all the very best, his new journey in Washington.”
The Hawks led by as many as 11 in the first half and by eight late in the third quarter before Denver surged with a 14–2 run to take a four-point lead. Atlanta quickly answered with 10 straight points and then closed the game on a decisive 23–3 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to seize control.
