The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on injured center Duop Reath just four days after acquiring him in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. Reath, who was sent to Atlanta in exchange for forward Vít Krejčí and 2027 and 2030 second-round draft picks, has not played since January 18 and underwent surgery last week to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season, having averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 rebounds.
The move comes as part of a flurry of roster changes for Atlanta. On Wednesday, the Hawks acquired center Jock Landale from the Utah Jazz for cash considerations. Landale had been traded to Utah from Memphis just a day earlier as part of an eight-player deal. The 30-year-old averaged 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in 45 games, including 25 starts, for Memphis this season.
Atlanta also reportedly traded center Kristaps Porziņģis to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night in exchange for forward Jonathan Kuminga and guard Buddy Hield, continuing the team’s active push to reshape its roster ahead of the postseason.
