Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks after suffering a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
The injury occurred during Wednesday’s 124-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The team confirmed the diagnosis Saturday, announcing that Morant will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks.
The setback is the latest in a challenging season for the two-time All-Star. Morant had recently returned from a six-game absence caused by a right calf injury and played Sunday in Memphis’ 126-109 win over the Orlando Magic in London.
Morant has appeared in just 20 of the Grizzlies’ 43 games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 8.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds while continuing to be the subject of trade speculation.
