Brice Sensabaugh knocked down a go-ahead 3-pointer with 47 seconds remaining, and the Utah Jazz rallied late to beat the Miami Heat 115-111 on Monday night.
Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 22 points and Lauri Markkanen added 17 for Utah, while Kyle Filipowski posted 16 points and 11 rebounds and Ace Bailey also finished with 16. The win was just the Jazz’s fifth in their last 23 games.
Utah trailed 108-103 with 3:32 left but closed strong, pulling within one on Isaiah Collier’s jumper with 1:23 remaining. Sensabaugh, who scored 14 points, then buried a 3 from the wing to put the Jazz ahead for good.
Miami had two chances to answer. Andrew Wiggins missed a short jumper with 36 seconds left, and Kasparas Jakucionis’ corner 3 rattled out with four seconds remaining. Sensabaugh sealed the win at the line, hitting two free throws with three seconds to play.
Wiggins led the Heat with 26 points, Bam Adebayo had 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Jakucionis finished with 20.
Utah led 85-82 after three quarters, but for the second straight game coach Will Hardy sat Markkanen and Jackson to start the fourth. Jackson, acquired from Memphis on Feb. 3, did not play in the final period. Jusuf Nurkic also sat out the fourth quarter and finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
The Jazz dominated inside, outscoring Miami 54-30 in the paint.
Both teams were short-handed. Miami was without Norman Powell (back tightness), Pelle Larsson (right forearm strain) and Tyler Herro (ribs), who has been sidelined since Jan. 17. Utah played without Keyonte George (right ankle sprain).
After falling behind by 15 midway through the first quarter, Utah closed the first half on a 14-2 run. Collier’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer sent the Jazz into halftime with a 61-52 lead.
