The Philadelphia 76ers will be without center Joel Embiid for Thursday night’s matchup against the Atlanta Hawks due to soreness in his right shin. The team announced that Embiid will be reevaluated ahead of Philadelphia’s upcoming back-to-back set this weekend.
According to the organization, Embiid experienced the soreness while participating in a right knee injury management program during the All-Star break. After consulting with doctors, he has been receiving daily treatment while continuing on-court work and strength conditioning. The Sixers said further updates will be provided later this week.
The former NBA MVP has appeared in 31 games this season, averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists. Philadelphia enters the contest at 30-24, sitting sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.
