The Orlando Magic extended their longest winning streak of the season Thursday night, defeating the Washington Wizards 136–131 in overtime.
Jalen Suggs scored a season-high 28 points and delivered the decisive moment with a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:27 remaining in overtime. He later added two free throws with 56 seconds left to seal Orlando’s sixth straight victory.
Just two nights after being overwhelmed when Bam Adebayo scored 83 points against them — the second-highest individual total in NBA history — Washington mounted a furious comeback. The Wizards erased a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter and tied the game when Bilal Coulibaly banked in a 3-pointer with 5.8 seconds remaining.
Coulibaly struck again in overtime, hitting another 3-pointer to tie the game at 131 with 1:39 left, but Suggs answered moments later with the go-ahead shot.
Tristan da Silva added 26 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks for Orlando, including a key rejection of Coulibaly on a drive in overtime. Desmond Bane scored 22 points, Wendell Carter Jr. recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Paolo Banchero finished with 18 points and 10 boards.
Coulibaly led Washington with a career-high 29 points, but the Wizards dropped their 10th straight game. Alex Sarr added 16 points, while Trae Young had 15 points and six assists in 21 minutes.
Orlando appeared to be in firm control after stretching a 63–56 halftime lead to 86–67 midway through the third quarter on a jumper by Bane. The Magic carried a 96–81 advantage into the fourth and pushed the margin to 17 when Suggs opened the period with a steal and layup.
Washington surged late behind Coulibaly, who scored 13 points in the final quarter to force overtime. Orlando had a chance to win in regulation, but Banchero’s turnaround jumper at the buzzer missed.
The Magic also lost Jonathan Isaac to a sprained left knee during the game.
