Klay Thompson matched his season high with six 3-pointers, scored a season-best 26 points and moved into fourth place on the NBA’s career 3-point list as the Dallas Mavericks rolled past the Utah Jazz 144-122 on Thursday night.
Thompson finished 10 of 18 from the field and also handed out a season-high six assists. His six makes from beyond the arc gave him 2,809 career 3-pointers, moving him past Damian Lillard (2,804) into fourth place all time. Only Stephen Curry, James Harden and Ray Allen, who finished his career with 2,973, are ahead of him.
Dallas (16-26) played without rookie standout Cooper Flagg, who sprained his left ankle in the first half of a home loss to Denver on Wednesday night. Still, the Mavericks produced their highest-scoring game of the season and set a season high with 19 made 3-pointers.
Naji Marshall added 22 points for Dallas, which took advantage of a Utah defense that allows the most points and 3-pointers per game in the NBA.
Brice Sensabaugh led Utah with 27 points as the Jazz fell to 14-27. Leading scorer Lauri Markkanen missed his second straight game because of illness.
