The Predictors

Duncan Robinson scored 19 points and Jalen Duren added 16 points and 18 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons erased a 16-point first-half deficit to beat the Phoenix Suns 108-105 on Thursday night.

Detroit, which leads the Eastern Conference, trailed after each of the first three quarters before taking control late. Tobias Harris knocked down a go-ahead jumper over Dillon Brooks midway through the fourth quarter, and the Pistons held on for their fourth win in five games.

The Pistons prevailed despite a rough shooting night from Cade Cunningham and struggles at the free-throw line. Cunningham finished with 10 points and 11 assists but missed 13 of 16 shots, went 0 for 7 from 3-point range and shot 4 of 9 at the line. Robinson split a pair of free throws in the final seconds, leaving Phoenix with a last chance, but Grayson Allen’s potential tying 3-pointer just before the buzzer missed.

Allen led the Suns with 33 points, scoring 21 in the first half with Devin Booker sidelined by an ankle injury. He poured in 10 points in the opening quarter and made franchise history by becoming the first Suns player to hit three 3-pointers and block three shots in a single quarter. Allen added 11 more points in the second, including two late 3s that helped Phoenix take a 63-56 lead into halftime after building a double-digit advantage.

Detroit steadily chipped away and pulled within one entering the fourth quarter before completing the comeback.

Collin Gillespie scored 18 points for Phoenix, Brooks added 16 before fouling out with 2:13 remaining, Royce O’Neale finished with 11 points and Oso Ighodaro had 10. The Suns have lost two straight.
