The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder are reportedly adding backcourt help, agreeing to acquire guard Jared McCain from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for four future draft picks, according to multiple reports. The deal would send McCain to Oklahoma City, with Philadelphia receiving a 2026 first-round pick and three future second-round selections.

McCain, the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has averaged 6.6 points, 1.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game across 37 appearances this season. Those numbers represent a quieter campaign compared to his rookie year, when he burst onto the scene with averages of 15.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds before his season was cut short after 23 games because of a left knee injury.
During that rookie stretch, McCain set an NBA record by hitting at least three 3-pointers in eight consecutive games last November and scored 20 or more points in seven straight outings. He made eight starts and quickly became a fan favorite after arriving from Duke, bolstered by a massive social media following that includes nearly five million followers on TikTok.
McCain is under contract through the 2026-27 season and now joins an Oklahoma City team with the league’s best record at 40-11. The move could prove timely for the Thunder, who have been thin at guard with reigning Kia NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recently sidelined by an abdominal strain.
