Victor Wembanyama delivered a dominant performance with 38 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks as the San Antonio Spurs completed a season sweep of the Detroit Pistons with a 121–106 victory Thursday night. The Spurs never trailed in the matchup.

De'Aaron Fox added 29 points and Stephon Castle contributed 11 points and 12 assists in San Antonio’s first home game after a nearly month-long road stretch.

Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points while Isaiah Stewart added 18 in the Pistons’ second straight loss. Despite the defeat, Detroit remained atop the Eastern Conference at 45–16.

In what could be a preview of a potential NBA Finals matchup, the red-hot Spurs controlled the game from the start. San Antonio has now won 13 of its last 14 games and improved to 45–17, holding second place in the Western Conference.

The Spurs set the tone early in their first home game since Feb. 7, jumping out to a 10–2 lead. The advantage grew to 17 points in the opening quarter as San Antonio knocked down 54% of its 3-point attempts.

Detroit suffered an early setback when Ausar Thompson sprained his right ankle just two minutes into the game and did not return.

San Antonio finished 13-for-37 from beyond the arc, with Wembanyama going 4-for-10 from deep while playing in front of about 30 fans who traveled from France to attend the Spurs’ six-game homestand.

Wembanyama electrified the crowd in the second quarter with back-to-back dunks, including a putback slam that turned into a three-point play after a foul by Javonte Green. Later in the fourth quarter, he blocked a running floater by Cunningham and sprinted the other way for an alley-oop dunk from Devin Vassell to extend the lead to 103–90.
