Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a spectacular performance at both ends of the clock, scoring 46 points to lift the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 129-125 overtime win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Gilgeous-Alexander forced the extra period by calmly knocking down a pull-up jumper near the free-throw line as time expired in regulation, then took over in overtime by scoring nine of Oklahoma City’s points. The reigning MVP extended his streak of games with at least 20 points to 109, the second-longest such run in NBA history.

Chet Holmgren added 23 points and 12 rebounds for the defending champions, while Jalen Williams scored 17 and Ajay Mitchell contributed 16.

The victory halted a brief slide for Oklahoma City, which had dropped two straight and six of its previous 12 games after opening the season 24-1. The Thunder avoided their first three-game losing streak since April 2024.

Utah was led by Lauri Markkanen, who finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Keyonte George had 25 points and 11 assists, and Jusuf Nurkic posted 15 points and 15 boards as the Jazz lost their fifth consecutive game.

Oklahoma City appeared in control early, building a 20-point lead in the second quarter before Utah closed the gap to 58-53 by halftime. The Jazz carried that momentum into the third, taking their first lead on a Nurkic layup to go ahead 70-69.

Utah led by eight with just over five minutes remaining, but the Thunder slowly chipped away. Markkanen’s reverse putback at the shot-clock buzzer with three seconds left gave the Jazz a 114-112 advantage, a basket that was upheld after review.

Gilgeous-Alexander responded moments later with the tying jumper to send the game to overtime, where Oklahoma City pulled away behind its star.
