Anthony Edwards scored 26 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves buried a season-high 22 3-pointers to knock off the Oklahoma City Thunder 123-111 on Thursday night.
Jaden McDaniels added 21 points and was a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, while Naz Reid chipped in 18 points off the bench, hitting four 3s of his own. Minnesota shot 46.8% (22 of 47) from deep, matching its season high and handing Oklahoma City one of its toughest perimeter nights of the year.
The Timberwolves have won three straight since snapping a season-long five-game skid. The Thunder, meanwhile, have dropped three of their last four.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 30 points for Oklahoma City. Chet Holmgren finished with 15 points, and Isaiah Hartenstein had 11 points in his return after missing 16 games with a calf injury. Despite Hartenstein’s presence, the Thunder were outrebounded 46-36.
Minnesota set the tone early, knocking down eight 3-pointers in the first quarter to open a 14-point lead. Edwards scored 12 of his points in the opening period as the Wolves found a quick offensive rhythm.
Oklahoma City made a push late, trimming the deficit to 13 at 105-92, but Donte DiVincenzo answered with a timely 3-pointer to halt the rally. Minnesota turned 16 Thunder turnovers into 30 points, offsetting its own 20 giveaways.
The Timberwolves played without veteran point guard Mike Conley, opening extended minutes for Bones Hyland, who scored nine points in 23 minutes.
