Anthony Edwards scored 41 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a sluggish first half to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 117-110 on Tuesday night.
Minnesota, which moved into fourth place in the Western Conference over the weekend, extended its winning streak to four games and has won seven of its last eight. Memphis saw its two-game streak come to an end.
Julius Randle added 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Wolves, while Ayo Dosunmu contributed 14 points off the bench. Edwards, fresh off being named Western Conference Player of the Week, took over in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points, including three 3-pointers, as Minnesota pulled away. It marked his ninth 40-point game of the season, and fans chanted “MVP!” in the final minute.
Jaylen Wells led Memphis with 19 points and Cedric Coward added 15. The Grizzlies mounted a late 12-2 run to cut the deficit to four in the final minute but could not complete the comeback.
Minnesota trailed by 11 in the first half and made only 3 of 16 shots from 3-point range before halftime, all by Edwards. Wells’ 15 first-half points helped Memphis take a 62-57 lead at the break. The Wolves raised their defensive intensity in the third quarter and tied the game at 72-all before Edwards’ layup put Minnesota ahead 74-72. The Timberwolves never trailed again.
Kyle Anderson returned to Minnesota off the bench one day after being reacquired following his release by Memphis. Anderson, who previously played for the Wolves in 2022-23 and 2023-24, scored two points in 13 minutes.
Minnesota dominated the boards, outrebounding the smaller Grizzlies 51-33.
