Stephen Curry scored 26 points and dished out seven assists to spearhead the Golden State Warriors’ convincing 111-85 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday evening. The win marked a strong response from Golden State and extended Minnesota’s losing streak to five games, their longest slide in over three years.
Curry, who had been listed as questionable due to knee soreness, also helped ignite the defense, contributing four steals as part of the Warriors’ season-high 20 thefts. His all-around performance set the tone early for a Warriors team (26-21) that has now won seven of its last 10 outings and moved within 1½ games of the Timberwolves (27-19) for seventh place in the Western Conference.
Moses Moody provided a spark off the bench with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Brandin Podziemski added 12 points, six assists and four steals in another strong showing for Golden State.
Anthony Edwards carried the scoring load for Minnesota with 32 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, but the Timberwolves struggled to find offensive rhythm for much of the night. They managed a brief surge late in the first half, closing the second quarter on a 10-0 run capped by an Edwards 3-pointer to trim the deficit to 47-46, but the team was unable to sustain momentum after halftime. Minnesota’s offense fell flat in the third quarter and they remained in double-digit arrears for the final 16:15 of the game. The 85 points marked their lowest scoring output in a game since a 104-84 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 5, 2021, and their first time under 100 points this season.
Role players struggled for the Timberwolves, with forwards Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels combining for just 11 points on 4-of-19 shooting.
