    Injury Summary

Jets superstar and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles and will be out for the remainder of the year. He had an MRI confirming the injury earlier this morning.

The road back to being healthy will be very long for the 39-year-old as a full Achilles tear is one of the hardest injuries to come back from. Rodgers will still be under contract next season, so the Jets are hopeful that he will be back and healthy next season.

    Trade Details

The Jets acquired Rodgers over the offseason from the Green Bay Packers, hoping Rodgers would be the final piece of the puzzle. The Jets also received the 15th and 170th picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Packers received three picks in the 2023 NFL Draft and a conditional 2nd round pick that would have been a 1st if Rodgers played 65% of snaps. This condition will obviously not be met, so the pick will remain a 2nd round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

    Game Summary

On the fourth snap of his Jets debut, he went down awkwardly, then was unable to get up before being carted to the locker room. He was seen in a boot before taking X-rays, which came back negative.

Zach Wilson, the former number three overall pick in the 2021 draft, took over for Rodgers. He threw for 140 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. This was enough for the Jets to take down the Bills on Monday, after a punt return touchdown to win the game 22-16 in overtime.

    Zach Wilson Overview

Wilson has struggled with the Jets in his NFL career thus far, but the fans and franchise are hoping he can take a step forward, especially since Rodgers will be helping him along the way.

Last season, Wilson started nine games, completing 54.5% of his passes for 1,688 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. In 2021, Wilson started 13 games, completing 55.6% of his passes for 2,334 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

If Wilson can cut down on the interceptions and throw for a few more touchdowns this season, he will be a viable backup and can potentially help the Jets to the playoffs.

    Summary

The Jets playoff chances have taken a significant blow with Rodgers being injured, but they are hoping that their defense will be able to win them games and get them to the playoffs.

The Jets new running game featuring Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook will help out the offense, as well as their experienced receivers in Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. These players will play a major role in helping Wilson improve and lead the Jets to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

The Jets will look to build off the win against Buffalo on Monday night and improve as the season progresses. They will be traveling to Dallas next week, which will be a very tough and telling test for the Jets team.
