Jonathan Taylor's Return

Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor is returning to practice this week after being put on the Physically Unable to Participate (PUP) list during the preseason.

According to the reports, he will return to the Colts practice on Wednesday and has a chance to play in the game against the Titans. Returning to any significant amount of action is unlikely, however, as he has not played since he had ankle surgery in January.

Preseason Issues

Taylor and the Colts have had many contract duels throughout the offseason, and many questioned whether or not the two would be able to put their differences aside. It appears they will be able to and Taylor will return to the field sooner rather than later.

After these problems were made public, Taylor requested a trade, but the Colts reported asking price was too high for other teams to offer. Despite all this, he showed up to most of the Colts' training camp, even though he was not participating.

Taylor's Career

Taylor has been one of the best running backs in the game, when healthy since he was drafted. In his rookie year, he put up 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns, as well as 300 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. In 2021, he had an even better season, rushing for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns, while adding another 360 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air.

In 2022, he got hurt early in the season, and never returned to his previous form. He only played 11 games, with 861 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Summary

The Colts will likely keep giving current RB Zach Moss carries as he has been effective in all three games he's played so far. Moss has averaged about 93 yards per game in his starts and has added 2 touchdowns to his total.

Getting Taylor back is important news for the Colts as he can help open up the passing game for rookie Anthony Richardson. The all-pro will help the 2-2 Colts make a potential playoff push, behind a pretty good offensive line and defense.
