Nick Chubb Walking Off Field

Nick Chubb's Injury

Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb is out for the season after sustaining a devastating knee injury against the Steelers on Monday night.

Early in the second quarter, Chubb ran it up the middle and got hit low by Minkah Fitzpatrick, when his foot got stuck in the ground and his knee bent in a very awkward fashion. He was unable to get up and was carted off the field shortly after.

Chubb's Injury History

This injury is especially more concerning as it will be his second major knee injury on the same leg. Back in 2015, Chubb had a very bad injury against Tennessee, in which he tore his MCL, PCL, and LCL, as well as cartilage damage.

Chubb does not have a known history of being injured, however. Since his rookie season, he has played 77 out of 84 total games, only missing a couple of games in 2020 and 2021.

Chubb's NFL Career

Hopefully, Chubb will be able to make a comeback as he has consistently been one of the best running backs in the NFL since he entered. Since being drafted in 2018, he has rushed for 1,000 yards almost every season, except his rookie year where he ran for 996 yards. He has also tallied 52 total touchdowns in his career.

Chubb was also selected as an NFL Second-Team All-Pro last season. He rushed for 1525 yards and had 12 touchdowns throughout the season. He was hoping to continue his success from last year into this season.

Potential Replacements

Replacing the All-Pro running back will not be easy for Cleveland as he has been the heart and soul of the offense for many years, but they will try their best to do so.

One potential suitor for the running back position is rookie Jerome Ford out of Cincinnati. Ford was the team's 5th round pick. On Monday night, Ford filled in for Chubb and had 106 yards on 16 carries. He also added 25 yards and a touchdown on 3 catches.

Another potential answer for the Browns new running back question could be Kareem Hunt. Hunt has been with the Browns since 2019, and is currently a free agent. The Browns may turn to him if they do not believe Ford is their answer for the remainder of the season.

Summary

Chubb is only 27, which is still very young, so hopefully he will be able to make a full recovery and be back to playing by the start of next season. The extent of his injuries is not yet known, so no recovery time is known for sure, but the star running back will be working hard to be back and healthy as soon as possible.
