Alex’s Week 8 Waiver Wire Targets

    Keon Coleman

People thought adding Amari Cooper might take away from Coleman's role with the Bills, but the opposite happened on Sunday. The rookie had, by far, his best game of the season, scoring 16.5 fantasy points with four catches for 125 yards on seven targets. With Cooper now being the WR1, Coleman focuses less on separating from defenders and is now more focused on working in space. As we saw on Sunday, this will result in more YAC from Coleman. Coleman is only rostered in 44.4% of ESPN leagues.

    Jauan Jennings/Ricky Pearsall

The Niners injury problems continue, with Brandon Aiyuk being ruled out for the season and Deebo Samuel dealing with an illness; the WR room is wide open. Jauan Jennings provides immediate flex value with him exploding for 46.5 fantasy points last time one of his fellow receivers was out, although Jennings is a better short-term option. Pearsall may see less volume early but could be a league-winner as the WR1 role is wide-open in San Francisco. Jennings is rostered in 45.6% of ESPN leagues, while Pearsall is only rostered in 5.5% of ESPN leagues.

    Cade Otton

This might be the last week you can get Otton off the waiver wire. Otton is coming off a career game where he recorded the most receiving yards (100) and receptions (8) in his young career. Otton also ranks second in targets at the position since Week 3, only trailing rookie sensation Brock Bowers. With Godwin going down, targets should go up for Otton, making him a must-start tight end every week. Otton is rostered in 42.3% of ESPN leagues.

    Cedric Tillman

Tillman took the Amari Cooper trade as an opportunity to slide right into the WR1 role in the Cleveland offense. On Sunday, Tillman exploded for 18.1 fantasy points, along with career highs in receiving yards (81) and targets (12). Before being traded to Buffalo, Cooper ranked eighth in the NFL in targets. Although Watson is out for the season, Tillman should be the WR1 in this new offense. Tillman is only rostered in 0.3% of ESPN leagues.

    Alexander Mattison

Mattison had his best game of the season on Sunday, scoring 15.3 fantasy points. He totaled 92 rushing yards and three catches for 31 yards. Mattison played 70% of the snaps, which is rare for any running back. Although the Raiders are a disaster, it seems like Mattison will be seeing some heavy volume at the position. It could make him an RB3/Flex option down the road, but Mattison is a stash if you have available space. He is only rostered in 42.5% of ESPN leagues.

    Drake Maye

Maye is coming off his most efficient performance as a professional, throwing for 276 yards and two touchdowns in London. It is clear that this Patriots offense/whole team is a complete mess, but one shining light has been the number three overall pick. Maye has been the QB8 over the past two weeks, averaging 20.18 fantasy points; he can produce even with his poor offensive line and limited talent at WR. Maye is a great pickup if your QB got injured or you're streaming QBs for bye weeks. Maye is only rostered in 13.2% of ESPN leagues.
