Alex’s Week 9 Waiver Wire Picks

    Cedric Tillman

Tillman is a player I wrote about last week, as he had an 18.1 fantasy point day and could easily be someone who could fill the WR1 role in this Cleveland offense. This week showed it, as he is getting actual WR1 usage. With a 23.6% usage rate, 21 targets, 180 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in the past two weeks, it is clear that Tillman is here to stay. Winston's role at quarterback completely changes this offense, which is good for all Cleveland pass catchers. Tillman is only rostered in 16.3% of ESPN leagues, so grab him to fill a FLEX or WR3 role.

    Jalen McMillan

With no Godwin for the rest of the season and no Evans for at least a few weeks, Buccaneers running backs and tight ends saw more targets this past week. But so did McMillan, as his role grew a lot this past week. He only brought in four catches for 35 yards but was a couple of plays away from having a MONSTER fantasy day. McMillian is Mayfield's WR1, at least for the next couple of weeks, and with this explosive Buccaneers offense means fantasy points. McMillian is rostered in 41.5% of ESPN leagues, so if he is available in yours, grab him before it is too late.

    Bo Nix

The rookie quarterback in Denver has settled in, as he easily had his best game of the season last week. Nix poured in 29.76 fantasy points, which included four total touchdowns and 284 passing yards. Nix is third in fantasy points at the position over the past four weeks, only trailing Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield. Sean Payton's offense is working nicely with the rookie and should only improve with more time in the system. Nix has a relatively easy schedule for passing the football, but I would use him more as a streaming quarterback than an every-week starter. Nix is only rostered in 36.7% of ESPN leagues.

    Josh Downs

Downs has now proven that he is both the WR1 in this Colts offense and that he is quarterback-proof. People thought although he was great with Joe Flacco, he wouldn't be able to produce with Richardson, and that is not true. Downs had a season-high of 109 receiving yards and a touchdown last week, even with Richardson's struggles as a quarterback. He is a stash player and shouldn't be on the waivers, so if he is, try to grab him immediately. No matter what the Colts decide to do at the quarterback position, Downs should be on your team. Downs is only rostered in 48.6% of ESPN leagues.

    Xavier Legette

Legette is a player I wrote about earlier in the season after his impressive game against the Bengals and has been up and down since then. However, with WR1 Diontae Johnson reportedly on the trade block, Legette might be a player that you want to pick up. Legette has shown flashes of talent, scoring three touchdowns in the past five weeks. And when Johnson eventually gets traded, Legette will immediately provide WR3/FLEX value, even with quarterback Bryce Young commanding the offense. Legette is only rostered in 24% of ESPN leagues.

    Darius Slayton

Although listed as the WR3 in this Giants offense, Slayton has found ways to produce three out of the last four weeks. Slayton has a role in this offense with at least seven targets in three out of the last four games and over a hundred receiver yards twice. Daniel Jones's seeming to hit his stride passing-wise instantly increases the value of all of the Giants wide receivers. Slayton could work his way up to a FLEX role if an injury were to happen to Nabers/Robinson or if his productions continue as is. He is a good stash option, as he is only rostered in 9.2% of ESPN leagues.
