Alex's Waiver Wire Targets for Week 3

    Quentin Johnston

Johnston exploded on Sunday versus the Panthers, scoring 22.10 fantasy points and playing 70% of the snaps. He scored two touchdowns and brought in five receptions for 51 yards. By far, it was the best game of his young career. He is averaging over ten yards per catch in the span of these two games, and with a thin receiving core in LA and Ladd McConkey's snap rate dropping this week, Johnston could easily be the WR1 in this offense. Johnston is only rostered in 7% of ESPN leagues, so try to grab him if he is available.

    Derek Carr

Another must add from the waiver wire is Saints quarterback Derek Carr. Carr is currently the QB2 in fantasy this season, averaging 21.6 points per game, and finished last week with 21.82 points. He has led the Saints to score 91 points over these first two games, which is in the top 20 in NFL history. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has revived this offense, and I see no reason to stop now. Carr is only rostered in 9.8% of ESPN leagues and is a great streaming option for teams struggling at the QB position.

    Kareem Hunt/Carson Steele

With lead back Isiah Pacheco out for at least six weeks, picking up either the rookie back Carson Steele or a free agent for now, Kareem Hunt, might be a good idea. Steele has nine carries for 27 yards on the season but might be the lead rusher in Pacheco's absence. Hunt is also familiar with the Andy Reid system and is an excellent potential stash candidate. Steele is rostered in 1.8% of ESPN leagues, and Hunt is rostered in 1.7% of ESPN leagues. Both should be available and having a Kansas City running back is always a good thing.

    Demarcus Robinson

With Cooper Kupp out for at least two weeks and another star receiver, Puka Nacua, on the IR set to miss at least three more games, Robinson slides into the WR1 role with the Rams. Robinson has played 92% of the snaps throughout the first two weeks for the Rams. Robinson has six catches on 11 targets throughout these two games, bringing in 92 receiving yards. Robinson can provide great flex value for teams dealing with injuries, which are most fantasy teams right now. He is rostered in 33.6% of ESPN leagues, so if he is available, grab him.

    Hunter Henry

Henry had a monster week two, bringing in 18.9 fantasy points with eight receptions and 109 yards against Seattle on Sunday. There is a real connection between Brissett and Henry. With Henry playing 80% of the snaps and being the TE5 on the season, he is a streamable tight end for Thursday's matchup versus the Jets. Henry also has one less catch than the entire Patriots receiving core, which is an interesting start. Henry is rostered in 10.2% of leagues on ESPN, so if you have tight-end problems, he is a good option for week three.

    Braelon Allen

Allen got nine touches last game, including seven rushes for 33 yards, a touchdown, two receptions for 23 yards, and another touchdown. The 20-year-old back is an elite handcuff for Breece Hall owners and is a good pickup if you have room on your bench or have Hall and not Allen. Allen is rostered in 7.4% of ESPN leagues, so he is a stash option for players with room on their bench.

    Alex Pierce

Pierce is the WR8 on the season, averaging 19.1 fantasy points per game. Even in the tough offensive game against the Packers on Sunday, Pierce still managed to bring in five receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. That is back-to-back games with a touchdown for Pierce, as he seems to be Anthony Richardson's favorite target. Although Micael Pittman and Adoni Mitchell should still get their share of targets, Pierce is a good option for teams dealing with injuries. He is rostered in 13.5% of ESPN leagues, so try to grab him if you can.
