Christian McCaffrey is believed to have suffered a season-ending knee injury in a blowout loss in Buffalo. Head Coach Kyle Shannahan confirmed this in his post-game press conference.

Just after missing most of the season with Achilles tendonitis, McCaffrey played just three weeks before suffering his injury tonight. It got worse for the 49ers, as they proceeded to lose 35-10 in snowy conditions to the Bills.
Buffalo was able to brave the elements and put up numbers against an ailing 49ers squad. Josh Allen led the way with four total touchdowns. He finished the night 13 of 17 passing, with 148 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also added 18 yards and a touchdown on the ground and even got credited with a receiving touchdown after Amari Cooper lateraled it back to him on a crazy play. Obviously, Allen was not slowed down by the snowstorm.
"Amari Cooper to Josh Allen for the TD!" is a new one 😂

James Cook was at the forefront of a dominant rushing attack, which accounted for 220 total yards and three touchdowns. Cook ran the ball 14 times for 107 yards and a touchdown, which was an electric 65-yard rush. Ray Davis also had himself a pretty good night, recording 63 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Receiving-wise, not much was able to be done due to the conditions, but Dawson Knox led the game with 56 yards on two catches. Khalil Shakir was next, with just 30 yards on four catches. Despite the 13 completions, eight players caught passes for the Bills, so nobody was able to dominate the scoresheet.
For the 49ers, a dreadful season just got a lot worse. Fighting injuries all year, they have not been able to catch a break and now sit at 5-7. The Niners got nothing going all night, and three fumbles did not help them much at all.
Bills force the fumble and recover the ball!! Chaos in Buffalo 😳

Brock Purdy came back from injury and threw for just 94 yards on 11 completions, as well as a fumble. His top receiver was Juan Jennings, who hauled in three balls for 56 yards. Deebo Samuel was quiet, catching four passes for 20 yards, and also had a fumble.
After the McCaffrey injury, the 49ers looked back in the direction of Jordan Mason, who continued where he had left off. Mason was very solid in the early going of the season and rushed the ball 13 times for 78 yards tonight. Isaac Guerendo scored the lone touchdown, but only touched the ball 4 times for 19 yards on the ground.
The 49ers season seems to be quickly approaching an end, which is a super disappointing fate for a team that was thought to be a contender. They have not been able to overcome their obstacles, and do not have any room left for error. In a very tight and contested NFC playoff race, the time is now for San Francisco, and even winning out does not lock them a place in the playoffs.
For Buffalo, on the other hand, it has been a near-dream season and they are officially in the playoffs. They have clinched the AFC East already, and sit just one game back of Kansas City for the bye week. It will be a very tight race, but Buffalo will focus on going 1-0 next week as they travel to Los Angeles to play the Rams.
