Brandon Aiyuk got the contract he's been looking for all preseason, agreeing to a 4-year $120 million extension. The contract includes $76 million guarenteed.

Aiyuk started his holdout back in July and even requested a trade. He was eventually the focal point in trade rumors for the last few weeks, with the Pittsburgh Steelers appearing multiple times in those rumors. The Patriots and Commanders were also mentioned a lot during this saga.

Aiyuk and the 49ers have been in a standoff all summer, and when Aiyuk skipped practice yesterday, tensions between the team and player rose. General Manager John Lynch said in his press conference, “At some point, you’ve got to play” when talking about Aiyuk.

Aiyuk has been one of the best players for the 49ers over the last few years. Last season, he recorded 75 catches for 1,342 and seven touchdowns. The year before, he hauled in 78 catches for 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns. Him and Deebo Saumel make a very deadly receiving core.

The 49ers still have to solve contract problems, as Trent Williams is still not at practice. Like Aiyuk, Williams has been holding out all camp and preseason waiting for a new deal, which the Niners will have to work on next. If they can get all their star players back and healthy, they will continue to be a Super Bowl favorite.
