    Injury Round Up

Mahomes scrambles outside to throw the ball

The Kansas City Chiefs are the last undefeated team in football following a 28-18 victory against the 49ers and a Vikings loss against the Lions.

Despite having one of his less impressive games, Patrick Mahomes was able to do enough to push his team to victory. He completed 16 of 27 passes for 154 yards and two interceptions. He also rushed for 39 yards and one touchdown.

Kareem Hunt was able to manage his load quite well, rushing 22 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He has been the lead back since the Isiah Pacheco injury, and dominated the backfield again today. Carson Steele had the next most touches, with six.

Noah Gray led the way in the receiving game, catching four passes for 66 yards. No other receivers had much of an impact, besides Mecole Hardman who rushed for a touchdown.

The Chiefs defense really stepped it up Sunday, getting three interceptions and keeping the 49ers run game in check. Jordan Mason only rushed for 58 yards, and the 49ers totaled 101 rushing yards in total.

The big loss for the 49ers was star receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk has struggled for most of the season, after sitting out all preseason waiting for his contract. Aiyuk was forced to be carted into the locker room after stating that he was in severe knee pain. It is feared he has torn his ACL and will not return this season.

In better news for a very unlucky 49ers team so far this season, rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall played his first game since being shot in the chest right before the season. He caught three passes for 21 yards. George Kittle also kept up his great start to the season, catching six passes for 92 yards.

The 49ers are not in very good shape right now and desperately need someone to help turn around their season. They currently sit at 3-4 and are one of the most banged up teams in the league. Even though there is still no real time table on Christian McCaffrey, it is possible he can return any week now and help improve a declining rushing game. They can also use help at the receiver position, now that they likely lost Aiyuk for the year, and Deebo Samuel and Juan Jennings are both banged up.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, look like the best team in football and will be in contention to three-peat for the first time in NFL history. They have found their identity and have been able to find players such as Hunt step up in the place of their injured players. They will travel to Las Vegas next Sunday to play their in-division rival and look to stay undefeated.
