The San Francisco 49ers are just a few days from kicking off the 2024 NFL Preseason against the Tennessee Titans. But they will have to do it without their lead back, Christian McCaffrey, who is dealing with a calf strain. The All-Pro running back suffered the injury “a couple of days ago,” according to Head Coach Kyle Shanahan.
#49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has a calf strain. He is unlikely to participate in this preseason, per Kyle Shanahan.

He's likely to miss a couple of weeks of practice, also.
Overall, this isn’t a significant concern for the 49ers as this is just preseason, and their first regular season game isn’t for another month. With a timetable return for McCaffrey being in around two weeks, it should give CMC more than enough time to prepare for the 2024 season. Coming off an incredible 2023 campaign where McCaffrey won Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in rushing with 1,459 yards and tallying 21 touchdowns from scrimmage. It would be an understatement to say that the 49ers will need McCaffrey healthy if the offense plans to flourish like it did last season.
