Just when the Cowboys think things can’t get worse for their organization, the injury bug hits harder. After being without top defenders Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence since week 4, Dallas now has suffered injuries to its two top offensive players.
Both CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott had to be tended to by medical staff in their week 9 loss to Atlanta. Lamb suffered an AC joint injury which isn’t deemed to be too severe, the one bright light in all this mess. Prescott on the other hand wasn’t as lucky. His Hamstring injury will likely cause him to miss multiple games with recent reports and comments from owner Jerry Jones stating that it is likely an IR stint for the NFL’s highest paid player.

Hamstring injuries have been one of the NFL’s toughest injuries in recent years sparking research and large grants to figure out how to reduce them. The soft tissue injury can re-aggravate quite easily if not healed fully before returning and has limited almost every teams skilled positions this year. For QB’s hamstring injuries reduce pass yards almost 80 yards their 1st game back from injury on average and have shown that it can take up to 6 games to get back to pre-injury levels.
For the Cowboys, it’s a massive hit as they turn to Cooper Rush to lead the team with Trey Lance waiting to see if he will get a shot. Dallas enters week 10 at 3-5 in a competitive NFC East division. Time is ticking and an injury like this could send the Cowboys packing early from the playoff hunt if Head Coach Mike McCarthy doesn’t get things turned around quickly. The Cowboys face their in-division rival Philadelphia Eagles week 10.
