    DeAndre Hopkins traded to Chiefs

In yet another mid-season wide receiver trade, the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs have picked up five-time Pro-Bowler DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennesee Titans.

In just the past week, the NFL has seen Davante Adams reunite with his old quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the Jets, Amari Cooper join a talented Josh Allen in Buffalo, and now a superstar wide receiver joining two-time league MVP Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.

This is not the first time the Chiefs have picked up a new piece to their receiving corps midway through the season.

In 2022, Kansas City acquired wide receiver Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants, adding more depth to Patrick Mahomes's arsenal after the loss of Tyreek Hill. The following season, the Chiefs acquired another New York wide-out, this time from the Jets: Mecole Hardman.

In each of these seasons, Mahomes and company captured a Super Bowl title with the help of its new additions at receiver. In fact, Hardman caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII to help capture the Chiefs' second Super Bowl victory in a row.

This season, Kansas City hopes to return to the big dance with Hopkins at Mahomes's disposal. Through the 2024 NFL season so far, Hopkins only has recorded 15 receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown with the Tennessee Titans. However, the team from Music City has struggled at the quarterback position this season, with an injured Will Levis and a backup Mason Rudolph.

In 2023, Hopkins captured his seventh career 1,000+ receiving yard season, his first with Tennessee, and seven touchdowns, proving that the 32-year-old can still compete at the highest level.

Now, the veteran receiver will join the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL and join the likes of Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy to be at the disposal of Patrick Mahomes. Hopkins will likely fill the role of the injured Rashee Rice, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 against the Chargers. Juju Smith-Schuster also suffered a hamstring injury for Kansas City, and his return to the team is questionable, so the addition of Hopkins vastly grows its receiver group.

Kansas City visits Las Vegas on Sunday, October 27, where they hope to see Hopkins in the Chiefs red and white for the first time.
