New Orleans, LA – The Eagles wide receiver room took another considerable hit in losing DeVonta Smith with a concussion during Sunday’s 15-12 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Smith suffered a nasty hit at the beginning of the fourth quarter, where three Saints defenders converged on Smith after catching a 5-yard slant across the middle.
PRAYERS UP FOR DEVONTA SMITH 🙏🏼

The fourth-year wide receiver has his helmet knocked off by Saints DT Kendel Vickers, who hit the back of Smith’s helmet, causing it to pop off. Smith did not return to the field for the Eagles, and while they did capture a victory over the then-undefeated Saints, they could do so at the cost of their star receiver.
DeVonta was already playing an elevated role in WR1 because Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown was sidelined with a hamstring injury. It is doubtful that Brown will return for Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and if Smith is not cleared for play on Sunday, September 29, the Eagles will be playing in Tampa without their two-star receivers.
