The Kansas City Chiefs just snuck out a win yesterday against the Cincinnati Bengals and moved to 2-0 on the season. But with the 26-25 victory, they lost a vital piece in the backfield in running back Isiah Pacheco.

Pacheco is believed to have fractured his right fibula late in yesterday’s victory and is “set to miss real time.” He is being placed on the IR and is set to miss at least four games, but it seems that he will miss more time as his timetable to return is in six to eight weeks. Pacheco left the stadium wearing a walking boot and crutches, which was a tell-tale sign of disaster.
Pacheco rushed for 90 yards on 15 attempts and also caught five balls for a total of 21 receiving yards before exiting the game. With former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire out for at least the next two games, there is a significant hole in the running back position for the Chiefs. Rookie Carson Steele and veteran Samaje Perine are the only two running backs left healthy on the Chiefs roster.
With this significant hole in the high-powered offense, the Chiefs are set to bring in free agent Kareem Hunt for a visit on Tuesday. Hunt was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2017 draft and had a breakout rookie season rushing for 1,327 yards, bringing in 455 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns, just barely missing out on the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, finishing second.

The Chiefs released him in November of 2018 after a video surfaced that allegedly showed Hunt physically assaulting a woman on the ground. He was placed on the commissioner-exempt list and didn’t play the rest of the 2018 season. He was signed by the Cleveland Browns the season after and played for them after serving his eight-game suspension. Hunt played for the Browns from 2019-2023 and then was not re-signed after last season.
