    Starting QB Jacoby Brissett

    We are just a week away from the start of the NFL season, and every team has named a starting quarterback except for the Patriots. With Drake Maye's strong preseason close and veteran Jacoby Brissett's not playing much, it was thought that Maye might have a chance to start at quarterback in week one. However, that is not the case, as HC Jerod Mayo named Jacoby Brissett the starter for the Patriots in their week one matchup versus the Bengals.

    Although it is clear that Maye is the future for the team, the Patriots and Mayo decided to go the safer route and started the veteran over the rookie. Maye had a solid preseason with a couple of touchdowns, 192 passing yards, and solid rushing numbers. He brings a different type of talent to the New England QB room that fans really haven’t seen: a mobile quarterback. But still, his time will have to wait for at least one week.

    Brissett isn’t a joke of a quarterback, though. The journeyman quarterback has played for five NFL teams after starting his career with the Patriots in 2016. He is known for his solid backup QB abilities, and with 10,574 passing yards and 51 passing touchdowns, he is a battle-tested and ready quarterback.

    So when will we see Maye play? It was originally assumed he would play during the later points of the season, but his performance in the preseason challenged that thought process.
