The Washington Commanders breakout rookie Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury and did not return to the game after going into the locker room for X-Rays. The Commanders still won in dominating fashion, defeating Carolina 40-7.

Daniels has been the best rookie so far this season, leading the Commanders to a 4-2 record, throwing for 1,404 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has also rushed for 322 yards and four touchdowns.

Daniels sustained the rib injury early in the first quarter after a long run. He tried to stay in the game, but was in too much pain to do so.

Marcous Mariota came in for the injured rookie. Mariota looked good in his season debut, throwing 18 for 23 with 205 yards and two touchdowns. Mariota also rushed for 34 yards.

Terry McLaurin, who has come alive in the last few weeks, kept up his hot streak hauling in six passes for 98 yards. Zach Ertz was next up with 40 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Brian Robinson Jr., who was questionable coming into Sunday, also played a good game going for 71 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers were very bad on Sunday, and struggled off the opening drive when Andy Dalton threw his first interception of the day, which was returned for a touchdown by Dante Fowler Jr.. Dalton never recovered after this, only throwing for 93 yards and adding another interception.

Chubba Hubbard, who has been very good the last few weeks, struggled only averaging 3.1 yards per carry. He did score a touchdown, however.

Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick in last year's draft, saw some action for the second straight week, but was not able to do anything as he completed both of his passes for -4 yards.

Hopefully, the Danies injury is not very serious and he will be able to return to the gridiron next weekend where they will face off against the Chicago Bears. The Commanders currently sit atop the NFC East and have a 5-2 record. They have already surpassed their win total from last season, in which they finished 4-13. The Panthers, on the other hand, now sit at 1-6 and do not have much going for them. Reinstating Young as their starter may be helpful in developing him, especially in a season as bad as this.
