LB Josh Uche Traded to the Chiefs

The New England Patriots have agreed on a trade to send pass rusher Joshua Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Uche, 26, has two sacks in six games this season and 20.5 career sacks with the Patriots. The Michigan product was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2020 draft. He has had a solid career with the team, having his best year in 2022, when he accumulated 11.5 sacks in 15 games played. Uche re-signed with the Patriots this offseason on a one-year, $3 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

The 7-0 Chiefs just made a splash in the trade market last week, trading for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, and now have made another. It's an almost perfect start, and the Chiefs continue to bolster the second-best defense in the NFL. Coming off a 27-20 victory against the Raiders, where they had five sacks from five different players, they added another weapon to this dangerous pass rush.

The Chiefs currently have Geroge Karloftis, Mike Danna, and Felix Anudike-Uzomah as their main defensive ends. They also expect Charles Omenihu back later in the regular season, as Omenihu tore his ACL in the AFC Championship game last season. It will be interesting to see where Uche fits into this defensive scheme for the Chiefs, but nonetheless, the two-time defending champs add another piece as they look to win three in a row.
