Marquise Brown, who got injured during today’s preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been hospitalized due to a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. A potential major setback for the two-time defending champion Chiefs puts Brown’s availability for the start of the regular season in question.

Brown signed a one-year, 7 million dollar contract with the Chiefs in March and was set to be one of the lead wide receivers in this group. He injured his shoulder during the opening play of this preseason game, as he landed awkwardly on his shoulder after making an 11-yard catch. This injury is the same injury former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered in 2019, which caused him to miss four games.

With an assumed similar timetable to return as Hill had in 2019, it seriously puts into question his ability to start week one of the regular season, which is under a month away. This is quite the setback for the Chiefs, who will need all the offensive help they can get if they want to be the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
This was one outcome I was hoping wasn’t the case - a posterior SC sprain for Hollywood Brown.
